Border Bash Aragón – Gravel Camp. You choose how many kilometers to ride. From April 20 to 23, the Bohemian Border Bash takes place—an international gravel event not to be missed, with cyclists from all over Europe and beyond. You can share experiences at its infamous Gravel Camp and ride together through beautiful national parks in the Czech Republic and Saxon Switzerland that span both sides of the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. In 2023, The Bash will celebrate its fifth birthday, but why celebrate just once when you can Bash Borders in both fall and spring?

Around a thousand years ago, King Sancho Ramírez of Aragon built Montearagón Castle on the foothills of the Pyrenees, overlooking the city of Huesca, in order to recapture it from the Arab dynasty that controlled the lower plateau. The King of Aragon hoped to redraw the borders once more, but, unfortunately, they would continue to shift and ebb and flow over the coming millennia. So, in our spirit of ‘Ignoring borders’ that have been fought over for far too long, we invite you to ride in the shadow of the walls of Montearagón. Explore the paths that wind through the fields and the gravel tracks that snake their way up to the arid hills above.

And best of all, leave behind the cold, grey days of late winter – when we bohemians would be gazing northwards – and follow us south to sunny Aragón.

The Border Bash Aragon Gravel Camp isn’t a race. Instead, it’s a collection of welcoming mixed-terrain rides tailored to each rider’s individual strength, skill and stamina. You can literally push yourself to cover as many kilometres as possible over the weekend, hang out with old friends or make new ones on your bike. You can even push your gravel bike up to the very last climb if you need to – we won’t judge you. Then, you’ll enjoy hearty food and camaraderie at the camp after the ride, spending the evenings with like-minded people talking about all things cycling.

What is provided?

• 3 nights in two-bedroom bungalows or tents.
• Meals: From breakfast on Friday to breakfast on Sunday.
• All walks and events:
• A 60-km Blind Bash walk on Friday: a leisurely walk featuring challenges and games.
• 104/90/70/37 km mixed road surface on Saturday
• Refreshments available along the routes.
• The route (a .GPX track to follow)
• Two days of cycling – Friday and Saturday
• “Jotas”: an original folk show
• Saturday’s party will feature a live band

What should I bring?

• A bike suitable for gravel and mixed-surface road events
• Helmet (compulsory)
• A sleeping bag and your favourite pillow, shower slippers, a towel, etc.
• A tent, a sleeping mat and a sleeping bag if you’re staying at the campsite
• Cycling clothing
• Party wear
• A GPS device (so you don’t get too lost)
• A spoon, a fork, a bowl and a coffee cup.
• Everything you need to be self-sufficient on the road. Things like tools and spare parts, a pump, inner tubes, patches, chain links, etc. This is a self-sufficient trip!
• It’s getting dark quickly because sunset is at 8.50 pm and we need to be sure.
