The Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park, with its wealth of biodiversity and stunning landscapes, is the perfect place for adventure and exploration – and electric bikes have become an almost indispensable tool for this.
STYLISH, QUIET AND SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE

These sleek, silent machines have revolutionised the way we explore Guara. They offer nature enthusiasts an unrivalled opportunity to enjoy the beauty of these surroundings in a sustainable and exciting way, allowing them to reach places once reserved for cyclists of exceptional physical ability. I won’t say that anyone can go anywhere, because there are technical terrains that require a very high level of skill, but there is no longer a hill steep enough or a place far enough away if we take an electric bike with a sufficiently powerful battery with us.
Electric bicycles have opened up new opportunities to enjoy the majesty of the Sierra de Guara without losing sight of the essential respect for the fauna, the flora, the landscapes and the silence of our remote areas. Whether you are a cyclist with a wealth of experience or simply you fascinated by the world of electric bicycles, I invite you to join me on this journey through the exciting possibilities offered by e-bikes in the Sierra Natural Park and the Canyons of Guara.
THE CONNECTION BETWEEN MAN AND NATURE IN THE SIERRA DE GUARA
Exploring Guara by electric bike offers numerous benefits that enhance the experience of connecting with nature in a unique and sustainable way.
Electric bikes allow anyone to enjoy the beauty of the park, regardless of their level of fitness. The electric assistance makes it possible to climb any hill, however steep, and cover longer distances than we would normally manage using only our own leg power. They bring trails, scenery and numerous points of interest within our reach, all in a single visit to the park.
Our connection with nature, allowing us to choose the intensity of the effort, will be much greater than if we were to push ourselves to the limit. The ability to adapt your pace and route to suit your preferences also makes your excursion through the Sierra de Guara a fun way to exercise, which contributes to your health and well-being. Furthermore, being immersed in nature reduces stress and promotes relaxation.
AN ELECTRIC BIKE FOR EVERY KIND OF ADVENTURE
If you’re a regular at B-Guara, you’ll know that there are many different types of cycling adventures here: from road rides to the most extreme challenges on highly demanding trails. That’s why not all e-bikes are the same, nor are they all suited to the same purpose. The most common electric bikes are mountain bikes or eMTBs, which provide all the performance you need for our most challenging routes. That’s why they’re the most common wherever you look. But there are others, which are also very useful for cycling around Guara.
Electric road bikes used to be very bulky, but now, unless you have a trained eye or are familiar with the world of electric bikes, you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart from a standard bike
no motor or battery. With one of these bikes, our famous “Vuelta a Guara” https://bguara.com/rutas-y-servicios/vuelta-a-guara/ wouldn’t be a problem for you, apart from a sore bum if you’re not used to spending much time on a bike.
Electric gravel bikes are becoming increasingly common and are more versatile than any other type of electric bike: ideal for cycle touring, they allow you to cover long distances and are designed to carry panniers and other accessories. What’s more, they’re perfectly at home on well-surfaced roads without any technical challenges, so you can tackle the Vuelta a Guara route described above or set off on a “Pie de Sierra” https://bguara.com/rutas-y-servicios/pie-de-sierra/ – a real treat in autumn, winter or spring.
The most daring option, now that the tracks and trails are getting muddy, is the electric fat bike. With extra-wide tyres, there’s no terrain they can’t handle. They didn’t really take off back then because of their weight and the extra difficulty they posed when climbing, due to the width of their tyres. With the boom in electric bikes, where the weight of the bike no longer matters so much, fat bikes guarantee fun at times when mud and snow rule in Guara.
WHERE TO FIND AN ELECTRIC BIKE FOR EXPLORING GUARA
If you don’t yet have an electric bike for your adventures in the Sierra y los Cañones de Guara Natural Park, we can sort that out for you thanks to three places where you can hire one. These are the Mesón de Colungo https://mesondecolungo.com/noticias/alquiler-de-bicicletas-electricas , the Sierra de Arbe Hostel (Naval) https://alberguesierradearbe.com/ and the Alquézar Campsite https://www.campingalquezar.com/ .
And to make it easy for you I suggest a route from each starting point of departure:
From Colungo, the e-bike route marked in blue in our catalogue – Colungo–Buera–Colungo – which you can view here: https://bguara.com/rutas-y-servicios/colungo-buera/ . It’s less than 19 kilometres long and doesn’t require a high level of technical skill to complete, so it’s perfect for your first ride on an electric bike.
From Naval, the electric bike route of almost 32 kilometres takes you to the Campo Royo viewpoint; incidentally, you could also start this route from Colungo. You might need to be a bit fitter than for the previous option, but if you get tired of pedalling, you know you have assistance, and unless your battery runs out, you’ll reach your destination without any trouble. https://bguara.com/rutas-y-servicios/mirador-campo-royo/ .
And from Alquézar, the most challenging e-bike route of all those I’m suggesting to get you started with e-bikes is none other than the Gran Vuelta al Vero, which you can find out more about by following the link https://bguara.com/rutas-y-servicios/gran-vuelta-al-vero/ .
In short, whatever your leg strength, if you want to get out on your bike and explore the Sierra de Guara, I’ve just left you with no excuses. See you next time!
