Description

Everything about this route is top-notch: the scenery, the trails, the villages, the forests. The best of the mountain range’s north face is encapsulated in a varied and comprehensive route.

After a short climb along the road to the Sanctuary of San Úrbez, the route joins the GR1, which leads to Bentué and Used – an excellent enduro trail. From Used to Azpe, there’s another good uphill path where you’ll need to push your bike for a short stretch. There’s still one more steep climb to the panoramic Coronazo pass, where an incredible 6-kilometre descent through the forest begins – one you’ll wish would never end. From the pretty village of Bara, you can easily drive up to Used and then follow a track to a farmhouse, where the final, very rocky path begins, leading you to Nocito with a smile from ear to ear.

GR1 ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: An alternative route descends from Used directly to Bara via the GR1, avoiding the bulk of the climb along the footpath and passing by the beautiful Poza Cardito.

WARNINGS

Between Bentué, Used, Azpe and Bara, you have to cross several ravines, which can be tricky during periods of heavy rain.
It’s a route with a lot of uphill sections on trails, most of which are cycleable though challenging, and with a few short sections where you’ll need to carry your bike.
The start of the path to Nocito from Can de Used is not immediately obvious when ascending from Used. When you reach a building along the track, you should leave the track and cross the meadows heading west, right to the end. The entrance to the path is at the far right, in the field further up, and isn’t very clearly marked.
