Camino natural de Loreto

The Loreto and Canfranero Nature Trail starts in Huesca and takes in the most interesting spots in the immediate surrounding area. This route is suitable for everyone, particularly families, as it follows flat paths with very little traffic.

The route begins by following a 4 km stretch of the old Huesca–Canfranc railway line, which has now been converted into a footpath. The first loop leads from the old railway station to Alerre, where you can top up your water at the fountain. Surrounded by almond trees and fields, the path leads to Huerrios and from there along a tarmac road to the Sanctuary of Loreto, where, according to tradition, Saint Lawrence, the patron saint of Huesca, grew up. A second branch leads to the Alberca de Loreto, a beautiful wetland teeming with waterbirds, from where you can return to Huesca along well-maintained paths.
